As we are learning about this sheep thing here on the farm, we are completely going with the flow… and so far-so well. As most know, Sheep are herding animals, meaning they want to be around other Sheep. Well it’s that time of year where the boys and the girls need to keep their hoofs to themselves, so we had the boys separated from Grace. Shortly after separating them, Grace and the boys started acting out a bit. Grace broke the little barn door the closes her day stall out from the outside, and the boys seemed to be incising Grace on a bit. This completely caught us off guard, because when they were together, they kept to themselves, but we definitely disrupted the herd and we knew we need to bring balance back. Putting Grace in with the boys was not an option, so we set off to find Grace a companion, a friend, a sister…
After a few weeks, we finally found her…
Baby Hope, Baby for Short.
And if you have seen our Instagram stories, you have heard the bleat canvasing the background noise whenever we are outside. We believe in surrounding ourselves with positive people and energy, as well as putting everything in the universe. We picked the name with that in mind.
We have found significant strength through our giving of Grace to those challenges presented in our lives. Doing everything in our will to embrace our vulnerabilities. Grace’s story (link here), really spoke to us, and we could not help but reflect on the similarities in our life. While Grace pays homage to some of our past, we really wanted to pick a name for her sister that was a display of our vantage point these days — the future. Baby or Baby Hope, in full, really was a testament to our journey ahead. Our dreams and hopes we are enclosing on in the fulfillment of our larger family, however we achieve it. “Hope” the title to chapter of our lives you are currently embarked on.
Since bringing her into the family, she is fitting right in. Her and Grace are side by side, day after day, and the herd’s unrest is now calm. She’s a pretty little one, that’s a little smaller with Grace, but looks a lot smaller since she’s shorn. But believe me when I say, she doesn’t let crazy Grace push her around. We are so happy that we have found each member of our farm family, from the barn cats, to the Ram… Each brings us joy in a different way, and each marks this farm to make White Cottage Farm what it is, always reassuring us that this is the plan He has made for us.
Thank you all for read, and thank you even more for following our journey… follow us on Instagram to keep up with the day to day on the farm, and as always-Give Grace.
