Veterans day has come and gone, and thank you all very much for the kind words sent our way. We love seeing all the well wishes and support sent out around social media for the veterans out there. While our uproot may seem a bit more harsh, relocating a lot of young men and women from their hometowns, a very warm acknowledgment to those men and women protecting our streets from both fires and criminals. On that note, I am so very excited to share this next company. A local firefighter owned and operated, and all manufactured here right out of Grand Rapids. Ladder 34 (Link), re-purposes old fire-hoses and turns them into awesome products of personal use and home decor.
Can you get anymore American? Quick answer… no.
Typically when you talk about Americana, patina, the stories threaded into the pieces of stained cloth, rusty metals, and weathered wood; you try to picture the times those pieces stood in; the houses, schools, libraries, or industrial shops. The Ladder 34 products are absolutely no different. The embedded stories from their time in service are just as captivating. Think of the fires they battled, the roads they stretched, and all the lives they saved. While you’ll never know the full story, they do come tattooed with their stamps of approval and house of belonging; while also accompanied by badge of history. Each piece, comes with a tag of what firehouse the material came out of. The three pieces we have in the home come out of a firehouse from Atlantic City. You are at the opportunity of whatever is in stock, adding one more level to the intimacy these products create. How awesome is it to have materials not purchased from any manufacturing facility, but from the hands of those firefighters around the nation.
You know LMB and I over here… we absolutely love the newly launched all white E#17(2’x3′), E#18 (2’x5′), E#19(3’x4′). After talking with Lance the owner of Ladder 34, a firefighter himself, taught us that some firehouses are known based on the color hoses they bring to the battlefield. Currently some of the other Pompier mats have colors from Illinois, Indianapolis, and Chicago.

When it comes to durability and quality, these mats are going to be around for a very long time. The cleaning instructions are simple… pressure wash! Love it all. From the naming to the story behind the owner, and the living-breathing Americana these pieces bring into the house. While these mats are tough as nails and hard as rocks, they definitely fit into any space inside your home. If your looking for that next piece of home decor, that is not only beautiful but function, as well as a conversation piece, please–check out Ladder 34 products (Link Here). The weekend is fast approaching and The Found Cottage is opening the Christmas floodgates this weekend, so if your in the area, stop in! To all a goodnight (too soon), as always -Give Grace.
What a great idea! My son in law is a fireman and I just ordered a mat and the coasters for him for his birthday gift. It’s a great story and a wonderful way to honor firemen. Thanks for the information!

My dad has always liked firefighter things. I like the picture of the dogs laid on the hose mat. Thank you for the information. I’ll purchase a fire hose mat online to gift to him.
